  • 1. Communication
  • a. we live in the communication age
  • b. on my computer I can talk to people all over the USA and overseas -- people who are interested in Christianity
  • c. radio -- television
  • d. print media
  • 2. Wide interest in more spiritual life
  • a. not necessarily meaning "church"
  • b. but the question is will we begin where people are or demand that they come to where we are before we try to reach them
  • 3. Failure of government and social programs to provide a better life
  • a. the church has great opportunities to become a more active participant in the life of the community
  • b. benevolence programs
  • c. programs for children and older adults
  • d. all of these give us multiplied opportunities
  • 4. People
  • a. this is our number one concern
  • b. we must revive the ability of individual members to reach the people around them
  • 5. Small groups
  • a. small groups don't have to fall prey to mistakes that have been destructive in the past
  • b. small groups are an excellent way to provide for people's needs and to involve more people in what the church does
  • c. most church growth is taking place through the wise use of small groups
