Faith Basics #3
We Are The Faithful
Bill Denton

INTRODUCTION

  • A. We have been looking at the subject of faith
  • 1. We have focused on some "faith basics"
  • 2. We defined faith from Heb 11:6 and found that it is composed of two elements: belief and action
  • 3. We looked at saving faith and found that it is a trusting obedience in Jesus Christ
  • 4. Faith is what keeps us looking to the Lord and not to ourselves

  • B. As humans, we sometimes tend to go to extremes
  • 1. Faith can look so easy -- might conclude that there isn't much to it
  • 2. Faith can look so hard -- might conclude that it's beyond us

  • C. Be careful of extremes
  • 1. If it becomes too easy, you might not be putting anything into your faith at all
  • 2. If it becomes too hard, you might become discouraged and quit

  • D. Who are the faithful then? How can we recognize them?
  • 1. Are they perfect people who never make any mistakes?
  • 2. Are they starry-eyed people who don't seem to have a realistic view of life?
  • 3. Are we faithful?

  • E. This morning I want us to think together about who the faithful are, and to see that it is entirely possible for the faithful to be us.
